Old Varndeanian Association (OVA)

What is the OVA?

In 2002, the OVA celebrated its one hundredth year of existence. It's aim is to provide a network for former pupils and students of Varndean, to provide facilities for them to maintain contact in later life, and to give people opportunities to contribute towards the life of the current school and college.

OVA Membership

Through the OVA and our internet activities, we now have contact with many thousands of Old Varndeanians, through all years, and across the globe. Membership of the OVA is open to all former pupils and students of Varndean at an annual fee of £5.00, or a ten-year membership fee of £30.00. If you would like to join, please contact Keith Elliott for further details or download a membership application form.

OVA Activities

Through the year we have a number of activities to which Old Varndeanians are invited. Each April we hold a Reunion Dinner at a venue in Brighton or Hove, with a guest speaker to add colour and hilarity to the proceedings. Our Annual General Meeting in November is coupled with a social event, and various reunions have also been organised in recent years, focusing on specific year groups. Please contact Clive Henly for further details of these events.

Twice each year, the OVA publishes a magazine for members which is packed with news of Old Varndeanians across the globe, nostalgic stories, and news from the school and college. Click here to see a sample issue. We always welcome contributions to the magazine - please contact Ron McLaren if you have suggestions.

OVA Council

The OVA is organised by the Council, which meets about four times per year to oversee activities. Members of the current Council may be viewed here.
